Making #DDay70 Trend On Twitter

As the 6th June and the 70th Anniversary of D-Day approaches TV Historian Dan Snow, military historian Paul Reed and the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth are all leading a campaign on Twitter to get #DDay70 trending so that the events in Normandy seven decades ago are very much part of the public conciousness this week.

Paul Reed will be posting photos from Normandy all week using the #DDay70 hashtag with Tweets like this one:

Any Twitter user can help by using the #DDay70 tag or re-Tweeting anything with that tag. Non-Twitter users can view the Tweets by following the links above.

  1. D-DAY, JUNE 6TH, 1944

The landing craft doors open up to death—
Atlantic waters slosh up to their combat boots,
Then the ammo belts around their waists,
Then their faces are awash with fear,
Blood spurting from their bodies on a June day.
The Second Front now a memory
In the dying on the beaches of Normandy.
